So, it's been officially confirmed, that WWE '13 features absoutely NO WCW stuff, whatsoever.
And I mean, like, anywhere. It's all been outright removed this year. So there's no Nitro, there's no Nitro elements in Create-An-Arena, and presumably no WCW logo's either it seems.
Personally, this is starting to sound like affirmation of what I feared.
With '13 so focused on the Attitude era, WWE seems to have slapped THQ with a "No WCW" restriction in this year's game, to keep people from having WCW in Universe Mode, and to try and discourage people from putting them head-to-head, or making any "What if WCW won?" scenarios. And they don't want the Attitude aspect to be interfered with, with any WCW arenas.
I mean, yes you can use paint tool to an extent, but you still won't be able to make an accurate stage, or have name plates or any of the WCW graphics for created shows that make it seem genuine.
On one hand, this really kind of pisses me off and bothers me quite a bit. The fact that Nitro and the WCW logos not only came in WWE '12 without downloading it, really bothers me, as they could have just kept what was already in there, at LEAST. And I just really hate these games's tendency to remove elements from the previous year for little or no good reason. If they want it to be a real simulation, the games should be built on the back of the other game, not have elements removed from them.
On the other hand.... this is going to be quite a good reason NOT to sell WWE '12, and an incentive to keep it around.
If there's any bright side to look at, it's this:
Even though this might be a real hassle, it's a good idea to keep WWE '12 around, and download a roster of 50 WCW caws for an accurate Nitro and keep WWE '13 with an Attitude roster of 50 WWF guys.
One thing that I often look at with this game in mind, is the Machinma-type mindset, and for the people that like to record and edit footage and that kind of thing, it's best to use WWE '12 for your WCW needs, and use WWE '13 for your WWF needs.
Granted, it will be annoying to switch between the two games, but depending on what mood you're in, a Raw Is War, or a Monday Nitro mood, I suppose it's a nessessary evil. It will mean that your two games and roster's can't co-mingle, but then again, maybe that does, somehow add a bit of that "Monday Night War" charm to it. Back then, they never wanted anything to do with one another. So, it's almost like that. Nostalgia?
Maybe i'm just reaching, trying to find a silver lining, I dunno. lol.
Either way.... just a warning. If you care about WCW, might wanna hold off on selling last year's game.
