Who the hell have they got designing wrestling belts these days?

We know that wrestling belts have been on a decline for years, ever since the WWE ditched the Winged Eagle championship in favour of the Attitude era satellite dish and the classic IC championship in favour of the salad platter. We have suffered the spinning WWE title glitter belt, the awful Divas championship title, and now the flattened penny tag team belts.

With the possible exception of the ECW title, there hasn't been a good belt in a major company for ages.

And we have seen the disease spread with the awful TNA legends title and world title belts.

But now TNA have really outdone themselves. Has anyone seen the new TNA World title belt Hogan pulled out this week? Swwet Jeebus Christ on a motorcycle it may be the ugliest fecking thing I've ever seen. I think any wrestler working for the company would plead to be booked to lose just to avoid having to wear it.

I fear for the fate of the WHC in WWE. It can't be long before they ruin that.

I'm trying to find a picture or it, but can't. I'm guessing it's so ugly that it' s broken every camera that's tried taking a picture of it.

Anyway, you also forgot to mention the WWE Unified Tag Team Titles and how they look like gold foil covered chocolate mints.

The TNA titles were fine, they looked fine, the Legends title shouldnt have even existed but changing it to the TV title was a smart move. But the tag titles??I gotta watch my MCMGs wear these horrid batman looking belts??They dont even look like championship belts, it look like a bad costume mask.

Edit: whoops, this is the World title, my bad, read it wrong, a horrid title for a horrid champ with a horrid story behind it.

Just bringing the thread back up in light of last night's events. Finally a positive step in the right direction. Just need this to be worked into a company-wide angle now!

Now bring back the Eagle belt, the old Tag belts, and the WWE Title, especially. And then all will be forgiven.

I stand by liking the TNA belt! Even more because it looks like Skeletors old mentor!

Hey, that belt doesn't look TOO bad! I like all the classic titles though. Specially the Hardcore one, what a belt!

Replace the WWE title with the Winged Eagle

Keep the World Heavyweight Title as it is

Keep the IC title as the classic looking title

Replace the Tag Team belts with the 1990s era Tag Belts

Replace the US title with the WCW US title belt or scrap the US belt for a European Title after having someone like Sheamus win it.

Bring back a cruiserweight title

Drop the women's title altogether

Well, you're right, if they did that I wouldn't mind a women's title so much. But until Kong returns, its not going to happen, and frankly I'd rather drop the thing that rely on the WWE to change its outlook and employ women who can actually wrestle!

I quite liked the Undisputed WWE title belt as well.

I think the belt designs got better into the late 1980s and 1990s (the early 80s WWF title belt was awful, whereas the Winged Eagle replacement is a classic) but then really went downhill in the last few years. The "Spinner" belt remains the worst in the WWE, but really the only decent one produced recently was the silver and black ECW title belt.

I just think it would be such a great angle for Cody Rhodes to beautify all the title belts, either by winning them (so the tag belts next), persauding the current champion to trade them in (Dolph) or else stealing the belts (when faces win back the main titles)

I agree with David on the women's division. Until they are willing to have people who can actually wrestle in there then it's a showing off belt, nothing more. If they do bring people who can wrestle in. From TNA, or at least, TNA when I have watched it in the past - ODB, Victoria/Terra, Gail Kim, Angelina Love (not Velvet Sky, who is the prettier of the pair but less talented), the other one that I can't remember the name of but is of Latino origin and reminds me a bit of early Lita. Roxy used to be good. Daffney and her sometime tag partner, again, the name escapes my but Delirious springs to mind, if not for her but somebody associated with her. Keep Beth Phoenix. Keep Kong. Get Natalya back in, same for Winter (who was Burchill's sister and is now the TNA champ). That's about 12 decent wrestlers. Build on that. Chuck out the divas.

Well we know that Winter/Katie Burchill/Nikita can wrestle as she was trained (at least in part) by Mark Sloan - the guy who ran the FWA Academy and trained Matt.

Like I said, if they get women who can wrestle, and use them as wrestlers, then fine. But I have no confidence they ever will.

I don't either. The names were more in hope than ever expecting them to take it seriously.

TBH I've never been interested in watching women's wrestling. When I was a kid I used to get a hard on when they used to slap each other about and throw mud & food on one another and stuff but as a young adult it doesn't do anything for me. If I wanted to get a boner I'd watch some actual porn, and I don't think I've ever watched a women's match and thought "Now this is a great match"

You havn't been looking in the right places. Japan regularly puts on absolutely wonderful women's matches. SHIMMER is, imo, pretty incredible. It's the only idie wrestling I look up on Youtube on a regular basis. (Even though I know I should watch more ROH)

Women's wrestling, imo, should absolutely not be about regarding them as sex objects. Unfortunately this is the exact kind of mentality that exists nearly everywhere when it comes to women's wrestling.

TBH, I do understand why people don't take it seriously, or dismiss it in general, but at the same time I blame WWE's attitude, and the "Divas" for most of that.

Great women's wrestling, or I should say, joshi puroresu is out there. It's just so rare and so marginalized, and nearly all but absent in western territories, and so obscure otherwise, that it's almost invisible, but I still maintain that it needs a major facelift, and introduction in the west.

Just like ECW gave the western world, great lucha action, which WCW later adpoted, so too, am I a HUGE believer that Women's Wrestling deserves a similar revival.

One of the main reasons I have such a grudge against TNA, in fact, was that they promised to do this, by recruiting a lot of the same SHIMMER talent pool, but then turning them all into irritatingly identical skanks. TNA promised candy, and delivered rotten apples.

I will always stick up for the 2% of truly great women's wrestling that exists out there. My feelings havn't changed since I started e-fedding. If I was still doing it, I would still push for it.

There are great women wrestlers out there as I've said, but to be honest I too am just not that interested in watching it. If the WWE did something worthwhile with it, fair enough, but I can't ever say I'd be a fan.

I just don't like watching women fight - or even pretend to fight. I'd honestly sooner watch an average mid-card men's match than a top quality women's match.

And I'll be honest, with no disrespect to Mike and Chris who both wrote excellent pieces as women wrestlers, when it came to e-feds, I'd very much just skim the stuff with the women wrestlers. The only women's match stuff I ever bothered to read in depth was Chris' story that lead up to the Reunion show. It simply never interested me. I have never made a female CAW on a wrestling game.

This is probably not the best time to bring up then, that I have actually posted the nearly-lost draft to my Women's Ladder Lockup match, in the CXA Runion Show forum.

Mind you it has mistakes in it, and the last 3rd is described briefly as a Skype conversation with Chris.

For as insane as it is, it's written quickly. The sentances are rushed (only written that way so I could plan the spots and get it down on notepad) and the actions weren't descriptive enough. There is also no commentary. I would have padded the actions out to make them more understandable, but I never got that far.

Still, it is what it is, even though it's sort of a mess, and i've posted it.

As I say, no disrespect at all meant to you or Chris, as you know I think you are both fine writers, but I was just never a huge fan of women's wrestling.

I suspect many people were never huge fans of long overly descriptive stories of psychotic sociopathic scheming billionaires with guilt, trust, and parent issues :0)

I want to apologize ahead of time, if some of it gets confusing.

It sort of got scrawled down for the initial draft kind of like... "this happens, then this happens, while this happens, and then she does this, while she's up here, these two are down there doing this, when this move is done and then she falls off that, and grabs that, and then kicks her."

It was going to go through elaboration, but even then, you'll see how insane of an effort it was.

Also, I think at times, I have the tendency to write my matches like they were an anime or something.

Its OK, we all know its a rough draft. But it at least gives a feel for where you were going with it. I'm on my own in the office today, so I shall read it later whilst making it look like I'm working.

I'll check it as soon as I can. Not today, mind. Today I have my last meeting in Croydon and then I'm escaping back to the North! So tonight will be all about relaxing and Dune...niiiiice!

Just read the match. I think that actually could have been very entertaining. I liked some of the spots, particularly the use of a Sega CD and 32X to batter someone with - foreign objects don't get better (or nerdier) than that!

However, had she used an original XBox, she'd have killed her.
