The main event of this week's Raw, Miz v Lawler in a TLC match, was an absolute work of genius on the WWE's part. God knows I have criticised their booking in the past, but that was absolutely perfect.
Realistically, there was no way Lawler was going to win the title, but they did a superb job of getting the crowd to buy into the idea there was a chance he might. He, Miz, Riley, and Cole all played it brilliantly. It wasn't over stunt filled, but King looked convincing, and the involvement of the others suits Miz's character superbly. The crowd loved it.
Predictably, some on the net are complaining "ooh Miz shouldn't be wrestling that old git" "wail, Miz needs help to beat an announcer, whaaa whaa" These people are fecking morons. That match did as much for Miz as both a wrestler and a character as a dozen defences against Morrison, Truth, or any of the other Raw mid carders would have done. Lawler putting him over like that in that match was brilliant, and the potential follow ups now are great.
I do wish people would open their minds sometimes. Last night's Raw was superb for the new champ.
